  I'm on Medicare and am type 2.  I just went through getting my
Dexcom not that long ago.  I had to test my sugar 4 times a day for 30
days and keep a chart to turn into my Diabetes educater.  I also had
to be injecting 3 times a day, which between insulin and Victoza I do.
And I believe she put in some of my really high numbers from a while
back when I wasn't so well controled.  I'm thinking that in general
you might not have to inject 3 times a day, but that it's one of
Medicare's requirements.  Since I've had my Dexcom I've been going
down on how much insulin I need.  It's definitely been helpful.
