I'm so glad that you were able to get the 530G. Congratulations and great
job for being so persistent! Glad to have you on our site!

I'm using the 530G, and so far it is doing great. Take lots of notes in
your training, since I referred to my notes for a good month when changing
the cartridge or resovoir as Medtronic calls it.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] 530G

Hi Everyone,

With your great encouragement and information I have been persistent.
Yesterday after having been on hold and transferred many times (from start
to finish was two hours), I reached a tremendous result!
I kept asking for the Engineering Department. Never did get there but did
eventually make my way to a great guy named Anthony in the Tech Support
Department. This afternoon I opened the package containing my 530G!!!

Next ambitious pursuit is to get the local rep to set an appointment with me
for set-up and training.

You all probably received the notice from Scott White regarding the trip to
Washington D C. Is there some way to get our issue of needing the life
supporting insulin pumps to be manufactured to be accessible by the blind
and the blind/deaf? I've wondered for several years why we have so many
other devices that talk including health items and our glucometers and yet
not more user friendly insulin pumps. About seven years ago I had several
conversations with various pump companies along with a representative from
the study that was conducted in 2004-2008. I stopped my endeavor after yet
another insulin pump tech told me that if enough requests were made they
might consider it.

I am now wondering if we brought our plight to the press or 60 minutes team
if it would cause a stir. With a lot of work we might get a lot of
physicians going to bat for us. In addition perhaps the diabetic
publications would publish an article. Sounds like a lot of work but this is
our lives we're talking about.

Obviously I am new to this group and this topic may have been trodden into
the ground previously.

Looking forward to your comments,

Verlyn Baldwin, now a contented insulin pump consumer for at least one more
year!
