First, it's a pen, not a pin. Second, you really need to ask your doctor about what injection you should or do take. Based on the info given here, I have no clue what it is. It could be insulin, but it could also be some other kind of diabetic injection.

A year ago, when I looked into buying Dexcom on my own, I was given an estimate of an initial $1200 for the receiver and transmitor then $250 a month for supplies. The transmitter has to be replaced every 3 months, and I don't recall what the cost would be for that. I know some people here are having quite the time with Dexcom and their insurance, but if you can get it covered or most of it covered, why pay out of pocket? It was different when certain providers refused to cover Dexcom, but if your insurance does, don't pay out of pocket.

Dar, keep in mind, while Dexcom is a far superior system in terms of what it offers and functionality, it is nonetheless a CGM like Libre.

If you want to take injections in public, that's up to you. Some people prefer to do it in private. With a pen, you don't have to set anything down, so, doing it in a bathroom isn't a big deal. You just pull it out, dial it up and inject. When I used pens, I kept a needle cap on when going out so I didn't have to insert it. If you do this, you have no reason to set anything down, but even if you don't put a needle on beforehand, you still don't have to put anything down. It was a little different when you had a vial of insulin and a syringe. For me, I found it easy enough to dial a pen and inject discretely in public. To each his own.

When I am out and have to give myself a shot, I bring alcohol wipes. But really I just lift up my shirt in the bathroom and do it.
I like the pen, they’re easy to use.
