[Diabetes-Talk] free style libre

Well, given the many stories I've gotten over the past few months, I can only go on what the Dexcom Medicare department told me this morning, as well as my representative, April. Did you get 3 months worth of sensors?
They really stung me on this one because I just had to buy a 2-pack of transmitters because they don't sell just one. Then they put a hold on my order because they lost the form that I had to sign saying, yes, I'm 65 but I won't bill Medicare for the G6. So not only do they have my $840, but I may end up with no Dexcom for awhile. I am a very unhappy camper right now. And I can promise you, they wouldn't even take my Medicare and insurance information right now. They're not covering it.

That's not what I was told by my Dexcom rep and nurse educator. I was told that as of the New Year, Medicare will cover the G6, and that when I'm ready to upgrade, which I will be with my next order well before April, I can get the G6 version.

Bridgit, Medicare definitely is not yet covering the G6 yet. Not until April. That's as of this morning.

Hello everyone, I hope and pray that you all had a wonderful holiday season!

I have a few questions about the Libre. My doctor explained to me that I do not qualify for a Dexcum thru Medicare, so is there qualifying criteria to get a Libre? Is the cost of it covered by Medicare? If not, how much are they on average?

I apologize if these questions have been answered previous to now, but I was under the impression that I would get a Dexcum.

Thanks,
Walter Mitchell

Hello,

You do not have to wait till the old sensor ends to start a new one. If you are using the app on your phone there is a button that says sensor icon. Double tap on this and it will ask you to scan the sensor. Once you scan the sensor on the main page it will ask at the very bottom if you want to start a new sensor answer yes and the scan new sensor button should appear.’’Greg Wocher
