Hi Darla,

I haven’t used it, but please let us know if this works or not. I would be most interested to hear if the app works & is accessible to someone with no vision and if the meter too is something we would be able to use.

Thanks.

Eileen

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] trying a new meter

Hi All,
Has anyone used the accucheck app on their phone? My Diabetes
educater is wanting to get me set up with the accucheck guide. Not
sure how this is all going to work. From from what I understand, I
won't be used strips. Somehow the face of the meter will take the
blood sample reading. I've been told it takes a very small sample of
blood. Then it is paired via Bluetooth to the app on my phone, I'm
guessing similarly to the Dexcom. I'm going in tomorrow to get the
meter and get it all set up. Hoping this is easier than trying to get
a sample on the strip. Right now I'm stuck with the Prodigy autocode.
When I asked for a prior auth for the Prodigy voice it was the
diabetes educater who did my Daxcom training. Not the same educater
who works with my endo. This is what she wanted to try when she saw
the prior auth. So I'm very interested to see how it all goes. I'm
still struggling with sensors. Either accidentally knocking the sensor
out, or having them malfunction. I was so excited the other day,
because I got all the way through my shower and doing lotion without
any mishaps. And then later that evening it malfunctioned for whatever
reason. We finally figured out how to get to the actual adhesive part
of the overlay patch, so I think that's helping as well. Tomorrow the
diabetes educater is also supposed to help with ideas for sesor
placement. One of these days, I'm going to wear a sesor for the entire
7 days. And am looking forward to wheever Medicare gets its heads out
of their posterior and cover the G6. Thanks everyone for listening and
for your knowledge and wisdom.
Warmly,
Doula
