[Diabetes-Talk] trying a new meter

Eileen,
I have never put my Dexcom sensor anywhere but on my abdomen. I know they say young kids can wear it on their hip, but I never tried it in there myself. Mainly, it was because I couldn’t figure out how I could insert it behind my back!
I have tried putting my insulin infusion set in my arm a few times, but I really don’t like it there. It is hard to pull your pants down with the pump attached to them and your arm. I personally won’t put the pump in my bra, since I have enough naturally in my bra! I also find that my muscle in my arm gets very sore after a day or so with the sat in it. I use my hip, abdomen and thighs for my infusion sets and just my abdomen for the sensor. I don’t know how one would insert a G5 sensor in your arm, since I found it to be a 2-handed task. The G6 can easily be applied with just one hand.
These are just my experiences, and I I am leery of putting in a sensor for 10 days in my arm.

I still cannot do insulin injections or my infusion set in the arm because I’m afraid. Also, its has to do with how to run the tubing for the pump, I’m concerned about the appearance. I know people have said that women can place the pump in their bra’s, but I don’t believe it is non-conspicuous. I’ve placed it there when I’m just home alone for the day and don’t care about how I look, and it looks quite weird in my humble opinion.
