As I’ve worked this morning, I’ve been thinking that it might taste wonderful to add a few nuts to the hummus! Crunchy AND creamy!

I don't recall the recipe off the top of my head. Two years ago, I did Paleo for several months before becoming pregnant with my second. I don't do Paleo any longer, but some of the recipes I still enjoy and make. I was curious to try this hummus recipe for a lower carb version. But yes, chick peas are great and I love them in hummus and out LOL!

I’d think nuts would mean you need less olive oil, and to me that’s part of the joy of hummus. I do very-low-sugar and flour, but not paleo. I love beans of all kinds, and particularly chickpeas, and by the way, if anyone is eating vegetarian, beans are the best source of protein and the minerals for which we eat meat.

Yes, I like making my own hummus. My husband is part Lebanese, and we like to make a variety of Mediterranean dishes. And hummus is super easy to make. I have a recipe for a Paleo hummus where you use nuts instead of chick peas I've been meaning to try. But hummus is one of my favorite foods.

You can also very easily make your own hummus quickly in a blender. Buy canned chickpeas (also called garbanzo beans); open the can and drain off the liquid, then rinse the beans. Dump the beans into a blender (whatever kind you use), and pulse them till they’re smooth, or till you like their texture. Add two or three tablespoons of olive oil (make sure it’s extra-virgin), and your choice of spices, herbs, or finely chopped vegetables (peppers, onion, etc.) and pulse just a couple of times to mix. Voila (French for “there it is!”)! It actually makes a fine vegetarian sandwich on whole-grain bread with some crunchy veggies, a bit of your favorite condiment, etc. Serving size is about a fourth of the recipe.

Enjoy!

It's chick peas, and not all hummuses have garlic. You can find all types of flavors of hummus. The base is always chick peas and olive oil. I like roasted red pepper hummus, caramized onion hummus and recently, I tried a pinenut hummus, which was really good.

I have not found the hummus out here.
I have a friend who loves it with crackers.
Is it like a cheese spread anything like that?
