[Diabetes-Talk] Can't believe what almost happened this morning.

Thank you. My guess is because they are from them I may not be able to get
them, but perhaps I can find out what they are and see about paying for
some. Have a great day.

Can't tell you the brand. I order directly from Dexcom, and I'm not charged.

Bridgit, which stick overlay do you have and where do you purchase it from?

I didn't use the sticky overlay for sensors until this summer. Since I'm
outside a lot and sweat more than usual, especially when running or
swimming, and also with swimming, being submerged in water, I'm using them
as added protection. But in terms of the sensor hitting something and coming
out, I've not had problems with that. But the overlays can definitely help.

Bridgit, do you use tape to provide extra insurance that your censors won't
dislodge. This is the real problem for me. Abbott doesn't recommend tape at
all, and only suggests using "tachy white" under the censor, but this is an
inadequate solution in situations where censors can be dislodged.

I did have another one, but thought it could come off as well as I would be
in crowded environments, so went with Plan B for a few days.

At least when we lose a Dexcom or Libre sensor, it's not like we are
rendered incapable of getting our BGs. It's frustrating and annoying, but we
can still test manually. But if you lose something involving your insulin
pump, depending on the circumstances, it can be a bigger deal. I usually
carry an extra canula with me when out-and-about just in case so if
something happens, I can replace it right away. But if something happens to
my pump, that's a problem; a big one. Or if you forget to bring extra pump
supplies, it can impact actual BGs. I always encourage people to carry extra
pump supplies. I just keep a canula in my bag at all times. Likewise, with
Dexcom and Libre, I have an extra sensor in my bag when traveling or leaving
the house. The only exception is if I'm just out running quick errands or
something like that. But if I plan to be gone longer than a couple of hours,
I bring all necessary supplies.

I didn't buy another one as the logistics made it not practical at the time.
I just applied a new one when I could.
