I agree with Veronica that the angle is the key.  Pulling straight down
pulls the sensor out from the inserter device.

Hi Paul. Glad things are settling in just a bit. Again. Fold the end tabs
back a bit before just grabbing and pulling. And remember not to pull
straight back on the tab. It really wants a slight angle that goes away from
the other half of the backing or sticky area. Wish I could sit beside you
and show you. <grin> On the G6 sensors, you do pull straight back on the
tabs, but not the G5's.
Hang in there and keep at it. 
I remember this phase. I cried almost every time for the first month and a
half. <sniff.
