[Diabetes-Talk] a few questions

I understand that. It can be exhausting dealing with all this. If you have the ability to pay out of pocket and are comfortable doing that, it's totally your choice. Can you at least get Medicare to cover what they will for test strips then you pay out-of-pocket for anything above and beyond?

I am fighting with my insurance company over something else not diabetes related, so anything I can do to not deal with them is OK with me. I guess the good news is I can put my sensor on because this x-ray fight is not going to end anytime soon.

If your doctor agrees you should test 4 times a day, they they will write a script for that many sticks in a month. If it's more than that, the script will be for more. I on average test 6 to 8 times a day, so my doctor has always written scripts for testing 8 times a day, but usually adds in another couple of sticks, so the script is actually for 10 or 12 in case of mistakes. In 33 years of being diabetic, I've never ran out of strips; and again, I test 6 to 8 times a day; it was 15 times a day with both my pregnancies. If you think you need to test more, and want to add in a couple of other test for padding, you should ask your doctor. The pharmacy will only provide what the script says.
