[Diabetes-Talk] cost

Veronica,

Thank you for the clarification. You are correct and I did post incorrectly
regarding the length of life for the transmittors. It is 90-days and the
insurance is the factor of who has a specific coverage over another. If
Wallgreens, Walmart, a mail in service as Express Scripts or ordering from
Dexcom directly, Dar will figure this out. No rumors being spread for to
mention this from within a previous tag but Dexcom will give you all your
answers, we'll all here just trying to help those newbies wanting to better
their diabetes management.

I appreciate you all so keep up the great work and participation for all of
us... right or wrong, we're all in a crazy club not by choice...

Rick

Rick and all, a transmitter lasts for 90 days, not 30 days.
Last I heard, Dexcom was working to make their products available at
pharmacies, but I'm not sure they had completed that process yet. I'd be
surprised if you could walk into Walgreen's and just buy it. Maybe that's
something about your insurance, but I have my doubts as to Dexcom coverage
under Part D. It needs to go as durable medical equipment and I certainly
can't say what your insurance will do or what it will cost you.

Hi,

The Dexcom 6 sensors are good for only 10-days. The transmitters only last
30-days. You do not need to use the receiver if you download the app to your
smart-phone. I have doubts that Walgreens covers these but worthy of your
checking this a few times. Express Scripts covers Dexcom and they deliver.
Remember, this is a Medicare part B product and you will pay 20% of the
cost. I believe your cost every 90-days may be more than $100 for your
90-day supply. Remember to order your over-lay patches when you order your
supplies. These are of no charge or free and they do help the dexcom stay in
place through showers for example.

Best of luck,

Rick

Do you know for a fact that Walgreens will supply Dexcom? With the G6, a
sensor lasts 14 days, I believe. With the G5 it only lasts 7 days. I would
contact Walgreens and specifically ask if it will supply Dexcom sensors for
you. You also need the transmittors. So, you use a sensor which lasts 14
days, the transmitter which attaches to the sensor and lasts 3 months, and
the receiver, which looks like an iPhone that reads glucose output and lasts
a year. But again, the receiver is completely inaccessible for blind people.

out of cost for the dex com g six for me not the machine with it is
$400 the machine is $295.
You get three cencers in a kit.
Is this so, and I will have to see if my insurance will cover some of this.
I sure couldn't pay $400 every month, if a cencer lasts a week.
How did you get around that.
Wall greens said that I should get wallmart to get this since I get all of
my medicines over there.
Just some thoughts.
