Gary,
Are you not eligible for Social Security disability insurance due to
being gainfully employed? I've been eligible for Medicare since 1989, since
I lost my sight in 1987. I was still in college, so I was able to receive
disability benefits thanks to my mom pursuing this avenue for me. I've
had my benefits stopped and then started again every time I become gainfully
employed, but my Medicare eligibility remained the same. I opted to stop
Medicare coverage when I had adequate insurance through my work, but it was
reinstated whenever I left work to raise my kids.
The blind can earn $2040/month and still receive SSDI benefits. I am now an
Independent contracted employee or otherwise self employed since July, and
I've learned that the rules for Social Security are very different for self
employed versus being employed by a company or agency.
Jamie

Veronica, so thats why I was asking about any low cost solutions to getting
the dexcom g6. If I know that I can get them through a different insurance
provider as I will be most likely changing providers as my premiums have sky
rocketed to the moon, about 1200 a month to be exact.at that point what's
the point of carrying health insurance.i will be doing all my research this
time around and doing lots of fact finding before signing up this time
around for my provider this year. Unfortunately a at this pint in life
idont qualify formedicare as I am in my mid 40's.

For all of you with insurance questions, if you call Dexcom directly, they
have insurance specialists who are there to help you figure that stuff out.
They have trainers who can help you learn the product. They have the people
who can get really specific with you.
These days they seem to have a zillion phone numbers but I still call the
one I started with: 877-339-2664 which stands for Dexcom 4.
There seem to be a lot of things that determine where you can buy your
sensors. For instance, with my insurance, I have to buy directly from
Dexcom. So it's really best to chat with someone who has the big ol'
computer data bases that can spit out accurate results when you give them
your information.
Dar, at least when I did it, if you're approved for a Dexcom, that means
coverage is arranged. But that knowledge would have come from Dexcom. So
please give them a call.
