Hi Jamie,

Can you explain more what you mean by your comment that Medicare patients
get a different supply of sensors for the G6 than those with group
insurance?

Thank you,

Rick

Joyce,

First, the last session warning was for your transmitter, not the sensor.
The battery on the transmitter is out of its charge, so that is why the
sensor did not get past the warm-up. I'd deal with the G5 for now, so you
are not without a Dexcom. I think Veronica told us one time that she swears
that Medicare patients get a different supply of sensors for the G6 than
those with group insurance.

I have been using the G6, and the app works great on my iPhone. If you
install Seeing AI on your phone, you can read the sensor code with it. It
takes some patience at times, but it works. I actually took it out of the
package this time to see if it would read the code better, and it did. The
code is on one of the peel-off pieces of tape. The transmitter is a
different story. Supposedly, you can take a picture of the transmitter
serial number from the box like for the G5 transmitter, but I can never get
it to work for me. I usually have a sighted person tell me the serial
number that I then braille on a card and stick to the box until I need it.

A G5 is better than no glucose monitor according to me, since I can't feel
my low blood sugars. I'd rather do finger sticks twice a day with the G5
than to not have a Dexcom at all.

For those who are out there using the Dexcom G6, I hav a couple more
questions, please just the G6 users:

Someone mentioned no calibrating just enter in code?

So is the code on the transmitter? Do you need to put this into the smart
phone? Do you need help from a sighted person to read this code?

How did you find the G6 apt? Is it as easy as the G5 apt?

I did not get the Dexcom G6 today. Sad eyes. They sent me a 3 month
supplies for the G5. I called them up to find out what's up and they told
me Dexcom is having problems keeping up for the demand of the the G6
supplies. After them doing some more research concerning my order, they
said there was a date that if orders were put in prior to this date, you
would get the G6 supplies and if the order was received after that date you
would get the G5 supplies and wait 3 months to get the G6 supplies. They
also old me I was suppose to be notified about this switch. Well it seems
as my order was placed prior to the date and they were waiting to here back
from my doctor and they did not notify me. They gave me 3 options. 1.
Keep the G5 supplies and try again in 3 months.. 2 return the G5 supplies
and wait for the G6 to to come in and I told them I had already been frozen
out of getting the G6 as that was the story I heard 6 months ago, So I told
them I have been without my Dexcom for pushing 3 weeks now and I will wait
until the G6 supplies come in. They weren't in too much of a rush when I
called them 3 weeks asking to a reorder and told them at that time I had one
needle left. When I put in the last sensor that I had it worked less than 3
days and gave up. Dexcom told me they would overnight a sensor to me and
give it a try. I told them it had announced that this was the last session
Well I received the sensor that Dexcom sent to me and I couldn't get past
the 2 hour warm up time.

Things are good when everything is working.
