[Diabetes-Talk] dex com charging

Since you want to use the Dexcom receiver, I assume you have partial vision.
The receiver is 100% inaccessible. There is currently no feature on the
receiver making it accessible for nonvisual users. And using Seeing AI or
KNFB Mobile do not work in my experience. This is why no one on this list
uses the receiver.

Can you explain with specifics what makes using the app so difficult? Maybe
we can then help you trouble-shoot. By saying it's cumbersome to set up
every 10 days, I assume you mean inputting the new sensor code. Have you
tried manually doing this on your smart device instead of using the
keyboard?

I agree with Milton that perhaps reaching out to a nurse educator for
assistance with Dexcom is a good idea. I have no idea what training you have
had and/or what level of skills you have, but if you're uncomfortable using
your smart device, you can reach out to tech support of the company you use;
and likewise, you can reach out to your agency for the blind for specific
nonvisual training.

In the meantime, if you state specific concerns here, we can do our best to
help. The Dexcom app is pretty user friendly and very compatible with
voiceover. Inputting sensor and transmitter codes is simple. If you would
like some assistance, I'm willing to speak with you on the phone about this
and we can even walk through a sensor change.

I do agree, since I started with dex com cgm I am able to control better.
But does anyone just use the reciever in stead of the phone? I feel it is
too combersome to set up with a blue tooth key board every 10 days. Angela

Yes, yes, yes. Agree 100%. Even though T2s don't always fluctuate as much as
T1s, frequent testing is key to diabetes management. Why we have such an
antiquated, ass-backwards idea about being T2 is beyond me. If you're a
diabetic, not only should a CGM be an option, it should be necessary for
diabetes management, regardless of type and if you take insulin. Every
diabetic I know using a CGM and who is trying to get tight control
experiences better management with it. I lost insurance for about 5 months
last year, and had to go back to manual testing. Despite the fact that I
test about 8 times a day when manually testing, I noticed a decrease in BG
control. Since going back onto Dexcom, they have been much better.

Hi, Mary.?? I couldn't agree more.

Right now my insurance will only cover a once a day testing, so I get 50
testing strips and I only get them every five weeks.?? I mentioned this to
my doctor and she says most of her type II diabetics only test their sugar a
few times a week.

This worries me, because I know just enough about diabetes to know that
everyone's body is different and won't react to carb stuffed foods in the
same way.?? I'd love to be able to test my sugar at least three times a day,
but getting the strips to do so is an issue.?? I feel like I'm being
penalized for wanting to stay healthy.?? I don't want to wait until I'm
insulin dependent to use an automatic monitoring system.?? That logic seems
totally irrational to me, but then this is the healthcare system we're
talking about.

pass through both Houses of Congress and on to the President of the United

anyone that???s not on insulin that???s getting this? Once I get it I may
have more questions and I have been reading through emails but sometimes
it???s easier to ask the questions when I have it in hand if my insurance
approves, but I guess the other question I will ask for now is our sensors
covered? Thank you everyone for being patient I appreciate it because I know
I will have more questions later than that may have already been asked about
the sensors and how the meter works and how to pare it and all that good
stuff. I was also wondering about the receiver I???m glad to know that you
don???t have to use it because I know that Medicare requires you to get one
with a receiver at least from what I read up on correct me if I???m wrong.
