[Diabetes-Talk] Insulin Pump and the Beach/Swimming?

Last summer, I bought a cooler bag where you can place ice packs on the bottom. It's meant for food, but it's cute and works as a cute pool/beach bag. And it's insulated. Even without ice packs, it keeps things cooler, especially if I leave it in the shade. I often place my things under a chair or towel so it's directly out of sunlight. If you have a cooler with a tray on top, you can just place your pump in a baggie and in the tray. I think placing it in a cooler would be fine as long as it's not directly on top of or in ice or really cold items.

Do you think if a cooler will be around and if its in a plastic baggie, would that be any better, or too cool to keep it in while I’m in the water?
Thanks.

I place it in my bag under a towel or clothing so it's out of the sun.

Hi all,
Just wondering for the ladies on list who use an insulin pump what if any thing special do you do with your insulin pump when you go to the beach or swimming? I know it can’t go in the water, but am uncertain where to keep it when I need to disconnect. I don’t want to just leave it & the insulin baking in the sun.
Thanks for any tips.
Eileen
