Did she not hunt information down on me and our Company? What would you call that Jeanette? This is exactly what transpired.

Rick, all of us might be more patient, but you have attacked one of our members by calling her a stalker. That is equally unfair, so please realize that that kind of attitude does not help the list. And being willing to say I am working for "ex" company but I am not at liberty to talk about where we are in this development would be a whole lot better than this skeptical approach, with cryptic sayings, and probably make you appear more credible in the eyes of people who really would support the company's strides if they were successful.

Veronica,

Going after people I am certainly not doing. I'm the one being attacked for not being ready but simply attempting to tell you that there is something on the way. Please do not fault all who take the initiative to solve problems for frustrations over present day products not accessible. I nor we have had anything to do with that. We will bring this to you soon, you can then do all your study of the product. It is and it will be the answer those disabled and those simply diabetic with no added disabilities will surely find acceptable. When you and I discussed this a year back, just an idea, you simply thought I was out of my mind. Well, this maybe so if I continue to attempt to defend myself but nevertheless, this is moving along and you will realize that if you put your efforts more into coming up with a solution over throwing comments regarding doubts, sarcasm etc. this would be a lot more for those needing to simply understand that there is something in the works and for now, just accept this and be patient!

With good reason. We've heard promises promises before. Anybody remember when the cure for diabetes was 15 years away? And sorry, but not every product that starts the development phase makes it as a finished product. When it exists, is real and looks like it has staying power, I'll take a look. In the meantime, admitting what the current reality is doesn't mean we don't try to change it. It just means acknowledgement of what's going on. And everyone has the right to say, done beating my head against the wall. We each make our own individual choices as to how to manage our diabetes. Frankly, this lack of accessibility should have been sorted out years ago. Back when I went on my first pump in 1991, I discovered the Disetronic and when I showed that it could work, it became the pump for blind people. Now lots of sighted people also used it too because it was not created for blind people. But as pumps changed to having menus, then going to the 20 questions sort of approach, we weren't on anyone's radar. So it's not fair for you to go after people when you can't tell us what your product is. When it's out, we'll check it out.
Veronica

The Medtronic 530 G is no longer under warranty, and from what I understand, you can no longer get it. As of now, no pump on the market is workable for nonvisual use. Not a single work-around. Now, if you have useable vision and can do some things visually, there might be some more options. But if using vision in any way is not an option, there's currently no pump to transition to. Those of us who switched to the Medtronic 530 G before the deadline a couple of years ago will have to transition to insulin pens once our warranties are up unless a different pump with a work-around magically arrives on the market, but with the popularity in touchscreens and using smart phones as PDMs, it doesn't seem likely.

Hi Patricia,
I think the issue you happened upon was that several people on this list who posted over the last couple of days left their message at the end of their post.
This list is one of the more quieter lists. So, welcome and hang on!
I am not a pump user but I am sure someone on this list will advise you about the few pumps that are accessible.
 Warmly, Joy

I have been a member of the Federation for several years but did not know that there were special interest divisions until I took part in the national convention recently. I am very excited about this list serve for people with diabetes and have found valuable information already but I am having a terrible time maneuvering the many pages of messages that seem to come in daily. I thought I was really good using voice over with my iPhone until I started to maneuver this list serve. I see that at the beginning of the emails there is usually a list of messages that have content to follow but apparently you cannot tap on any one of those messages. Then when I do find the first message which seems to be many swipes to the right down there is so much information that talks about how to subscribe, how to unsubscribe, the webmaster and how to post a message that I have great difficulty finding the actual content of the message that the person posted. I use my iPhone and tried setting the rotor to headings but that did nothing to take me directly to the content of each post. Is there a trick for going through the many many pages to jump quickly to each person‘s message?
I have had type one diabetes for 59 years since the age of 11 and use a med Tronic insulin pump which is now out of warranty. I would really love to get the new tandem pump but of course it has the touchscreen. At my doctors office one day I was able to play around with one of the previous models and was able to see the screen well enough to Enter in carbohydrates and tap on the button to deliver insulin. I will never be able to read the smaller print that includes all the settings etc. and even with my med Tronic have to have my husband set up the reservoir and get the pump going each time I change my site. I cannot see the screens on the med Tronic pump except for the one of quick bolus I am hoping that the brand new app that works with the tandem pump will work with voiceover to give verbal feedback as to what the status of the pump Is doing and then I might actually be able to use the tandem pump. I know that you cannot direct the pump to give a bolus from the app but it certainly would give a lot of information that is not visible to me on the pump screen if it talks I can’t even imagine living without a pump as I got my first one in 1997 and take very small amounts of insulin, less than 20 units total per day including basil and bolus and need the tiny increments that a pump provides.
I have been following as well as I could be discussions over the last couple of days on the topic of inaccessible insulin pumps on this list serve and share everyone’s frustration. It sounds like several of you are trying to make progress in making pumps accessible.
