Yeah, that's what Medtronic said to me in 1991. I too was going to be the first they called. And dear Medtronic, I still have the same phone number. <laughing!>

I upgraded my Medtronic pump in March of 2019 with a big to do over getting one of the discontinued model 723 for me.

I complained bitterly to Medtronic and have expressed that I was in a group of other blind diabetics using pumps who were all having the same difficulty I have in needing a pump we could use and that we needed a pump with accessibility. My doctor, his nurse and their Medtronic rep went to bat over getting a pump I could use and it got pushed a little higher up within the Medtronic organization so far as I know. I was told back then that they were working on a pump that I would be able to use and I’d “be the first on their list” to notify when it was available. Well here we are a year and a half later and not a word, peep or squeak from them. I’m not holding my breath!

I’ll believe it when I see it!

I hear a lot of talk on this list about Insulin Pumps and not accessible to
us blind folks.

I would like to know if any of you have taken the time to contact Medtronic
???

Well I did and I included the concerns that folks have here on this list.

I got a notice that they received my email. Within a couple of days I
received a phone call from Medtronic asking me some questions about my
diabetes and wanting to confirm my contact information. I was told that
Medtronic is aware of the difficulty that a blind diabetic has and the need
that we would like to continue with our pump treatment and time is running
out for some of us. I myself will have my pump 530G 5 years this November.

The contact person said the information gathered will go to the folks
working on upgrades. I told her that Dexcom stepped up to the plate to
provide the information we need via an iPhone apt. She told me that our
issue will be worked on and possibly the next upgrade will be addressing our
needs.

May I say this might be a good time to reach out to Medtronic and express
opinion and needs for an accessible pump.
