Terry,

No problem. There's so much info, and some of it changes over time. Keep
asking questions.

Yes, carbs definitely matter more for a diabetic. Carbs are what impact
glucose levels. Calories really do nothing to glucose levels. Carbs raise
BGs and proteins stabilize them. Calories really do nothing to BGs.

Calories can impact weight loss, but it depends on where the calories come
from. If eating something high in calories that has a lot of sugar or
trans-fats, like fast food or candy, then yes, it will impede weight loss.
But if eating something higher in calories but that's low in sugar and does
not have trans-fat, like olives or avacados, the calories don't do much to
interfere with weight loss. Even for non-diabetics, the focus should be on
carbs, protein and sugar. Over all though, don't worry about calories. Focus
on eating healthier foods and calories won't be a problem.

Food and nutrition impact people individually though. There might be foods
for me that don't impact BGs or weight much, but do for you, and vice
versus. In general though, limiting and avoiding sugar and trans-fats are
best. And low-carb is a good idea too.

I'm a vegetarian who does vegan as much as possible and I also do low-carb.
There are days where I don't eat more than 25 grams of carbs in a day. But
this is a personal choice, and you have to do what works best for you.

If you have access to a dietician, I recommend you work with one. You can
ask your endocrine if their office has one, or if they can recommend
someone.

Hello Bridgit,

Thank you for offering me some help with the App. I appreciate what you had
to share. I'm still attempting to figure it out. I can use it a little bit.
But I think over time if I keep messing with it, I'll figure it out.

Was it you who said carbs count more than callories, these days?

It gets so confusing as to what matters and what doesn't. And what might be
good for you, and what isn't. Sometimes I get really overwhelmed by it all.

If I just watch the carbs, and not so much the callories, can I still manage
to lose weight?

Well I will run for now. Thank you again for telling me what you know,
about the App.

Terri
