[Diabetes-Talk] Dexcom G6 off from finger stick

I have my pump programmed to make corrections at a rate of 1 unit per 40
points. The ratio is 1 unit for 50 points down during the night. This is the
nice thing about fully using a pump where you can set different ratios in
case you find your body behaves differently if you're coming down from a
number in the four hundreds than if you're coming down from a number in the
two hundreds. Before I went on the pump, 30 years ago, I never did well on
those sliding scales. I don't think my brain could think that way again.
But at least with the Dexcom, whatever method you use, it's easy to track
and see how you respond.

Oh wow, that's a big sliding scale. I only take a single unit of insulin for
corrections. Starting at 200, I take 1 unit, and one more for every 50 over.
So if 250, I take 2 units, so-forth-and-so-on. Are you able to feel highs
and lows? This for me is my best way of determining if my readings are
accurate, but I'm very sensitive to both highs and lows. You can also
contact your endo and see what they recommend.

I worry about this because of the amount of insulin I need to take for
corrections. I take:
5 units of Humalog for sugars between 151 and 200.
10 units of Humalog for sugars between 201 and 250.
15 units of Humalog for sugars between 251 and 300.
20 units of Humalog for sugars 301 and above.

So if the dexcom says my sugar is 130 and its actually 160 and above I may
not take enough insulin.
