Yes. And Let me make it clear, I'm not a doctor or medical professional of
any kind. I did make some suggestions, but you really need to do this with a
doctor to ensure the safety of your health.

Gary, you should not let your doctor get away with this. If you were put on
it, you should have been given basic starting instructions. That's the
person who knows what you have been doing until now. If you weren't taking
short acting insulin at all, you need to demand a session with someone as
this would be clearly substandard diabetes care. You could get yourself in
real trouble making guesses if you've never done this before. If you were
taking short-acting but not rapid acting, then perhaps you have a starting
point, but you should be able to ask what the difference might be.
But again, don't let this doc get away with providing incorrect substandard
care.

Wow! Well, for now, maybe start with a basic 1/15 for meals. If you go high,
lower the amount as you see fit. May go down to 1/12. And of course, if you
go low after meals, go up, Maybe 1/18. So forth-and-so-on. I'm obviously not
a doctor, but if you're doc isn't going to provide a protocol, you can at
least try this.

Nope he did not recommend and that is why I am trying to figure out an
optimal carb to insulin ratio .his approach was just add or subtract till
you have an optimal range that you can work with . which in my view isnot
he right answer to be givingsomeone who is diabetic on insulin.
