Hi Michael! Have you taken Lyrica, Simbalta or Gabapentin yet? I have been on all of them in the past. I settled on Gabapentin, but Lyrica also helped. I stopped taking it and started on Gabapentin, since I didn't like the side effect of the Lyrica (swelling in my hands). The swelling made it hard to tell if it was edema or just the Lyrica. My pain was not as severe as you describe though, so I sure hope you find something that can help you.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Severe Neuropathy pain in feet and ankles

Just throwing this out for discussion becaussion because I don’t know what else to do right now.

I have had the most severe neuropathy pain in my legs and feet for quite sometime. Whenever I go to the ER and they tell me to rate my pain, I always tell them it’s at least an 11 or more and they scold me because they want just between 1 and 10. I tell them that I’m trying to let them know it’s worse than that.

I have taken Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone and Tramadol., all . I have considered having the nerves burned off on my feet or

My question is, what would anyone do? Has anyone done the nerve burn thing? How did that work? What were the pros and cons? I’m desperate here. It’s changing my personality and I’m not liking that at all.

Thanks for any help.

Cordially,
Michael D. Barber
