My question is is there more than one model of the freestyle that people are currently using? Does the app work just with the newest Version and do you have to scan the sensor with the phone or does it continuously read out? Costco was telling us about the one they call the freestyle 14 day that they sell at a tremendous discount making it not too unreasonable for people whose insurance will not cover.

Likely your insurance company will not cover it if you are not taking Insulin and testing 3 to 4 times a day so if I were you I would grab that tremendous discount, especially if you can get the sensors at that discount. I have had mine for at least two years and the app has always worked accessibly for checking sugars, logging information in, seeing some averages, knowing when you check if you are high and low. And the 14 day one is the one that is out. The newer one will be 21 days, but that is not yet accessible in this country.

But for now the libre you have to scan but going forward with libre 3 that will go away.libre 3 is in clinical trials as we sspeak since abbot has an advantage over dexcom in clinical trials as they already have the FDA ear on cobat testing and so that is why they can get an advantage on cgm clinical trials with libre 3 as well.

> I have two emails here which are cryptic and I don't know for certain what you are asking. I was saying that unless it was just approved in the US the latest model (with the alarms you can set) does not work for us. It is my understanding that that one, which is the 21 day sensor, has not yet been approved in this country by the FDA, but it is available in other countries. Here if we want that one we need to have the scanner, and there is a complicated way to get readings, but it requires use of your computer and cannot be done by those of us who use the app. The one I was talking about is the 14 day sensor. And, what doesn't work is reading the reports that a sighted person can see. They are available through I think it is libre view, but when I print those reports I need sighted help and have not found a way to download them independently as a totally blind person. But you can get your readings, apply your sensor and scan a new one, log in your log book, see your average readings, see your lows and get some info about patterns, and for me that has made monitoring easier, safer and faster. Still, I love my freestyle libre.

There are several features that are not accessible with voiceOver but it does what I need: scan, give me a 90 or 7 day average, tell me when to replace the sensor. I have been using for almost a year and have lost 1 sensor prematurely.
