[Diabetes-Talk] V-Go

When I first heard of V-go, years ago, it was recommended for people who
were Type two, where you could predictably use the same basal rates. But as
Bern said, it is a patch, so must stick to you. But if I were type 2 and not
using a more complicated pump, I'd sure check it out. The only down side
would be trying to catch up if it came off or you had to take it off for a
medical procedure or something. I do have this kind of experience with the
pods for my Omnipod. But hey, information is king and Terrie, you have
nothing to lose. I think on the early version I saw, you couldn't do meal
boluses with it. But with that, you'd really have to have some way of
knowing how much insulin was left in the patch. I don't know anything about
whether or not the patch comes preloaded with insulin or if you fill it.
Your turn, Bern.
Keep us posted on your research.

Terry,

I never used the V-go, but seem to recall discussions about it a while back.
If I am recalling this correctly, It does infuse insulin somewhat like a
pump. However, it cannot be fine-tuned with dosages as an insulin pump can.
It just kind of does a continuous drip into you at a set rate so if I have
that right that would mean you can potentially have highs &/or lows at
certain times of the day.

Of course this is all from my memory so you really need to ask a doctor
about it. For me, personally, it would not work.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone here ever heard of V-Go?

If so, does anyone here use it?

I learned about this while searching for something else on the internet,
earlier today. I've never heard of it before.

However, I am very interested in it. I plan to talk to my doctor about
it, and see if it might be right for me.

>From what I understand, it's a device you wear, and it continuously
delivers fast-acting insulin. Also, for meals, you can press a button,
and it will deliver 2 units at a time. But you can continually press it,
if you need more insulin than this.

Also, you change the system out every day.

I definitely would like to have this, if the doctor thinks it could help
me. Also, if I could use it pretty easily, being totally blind. They
state that it is covered by Medicare part D. So this is definitely a plus.

I hope someone knows what I am talking about. I'd be very interested in
hearing what you all think.

Thank you,

Terri
