Hi Bridget! I sure do you remember those awful chalky glucose tablets! I agree that the glucose tablets don’t always get into me as quick as one would think they should, so I usually just eat two of them along with something else. I don’t like to snack either. Your kids will love these juice boxes, since they are Sesame Street ones from Walmart! My daughter also found the orange juice and apple juice ones at the Dollar Store. The Sesame Street ones from Walmart are 32 boxes for a little under $10. They are the ones that come in Apple, Barry and fruit punch.

I buy the Mott's 8 oz. juice bottles and keep them on hand. I usually drink half the bottle and wait to see if I need more, but having a smaller size would be nice.

For a time, after my husband and I got married, we kept Glucogon on hand, and he had to use it just twice in the 15 years we've been married. But we have not kept it on hand for years now. I'm frequently low, but sensitive enough to when I drop, and lucid enough to treat before I would need Glucogon. And like I've said, I'm still able to sense lows even in my sleep. Even when super low, like 40 or 30, I'm lucid enough to treat.

I also keep at least 2 bottles in my nightstand so, when I'm low in the middle of the night, I don't have to get out of bed; I just reach across to my nightstand drawer and get a juice.

But they don't dissolve that quickly for me, and don't bring my BGs up quick enough. I'm not a big snacker, so, I hate snacking when I'm low. I usually just treat with juice unless it's really bad.

I was not going to spend over $200 on something that might not ever be used before it expired in one year. I keep juice boxes, glucose tablets and a carb like graham crackers in my nightstand, in the cubby by the couch, in my purse, etc. I don't need to drink cold juice! I have these little 4 ounce juice boxes that have orange juice, apple juice, berry and fruit punch in them. They are the perfect size, since more than 4 ounces for me causes a very high rebound high.
