Dear Diana, and Everyone,

Thank you for sharing your experience and opinions. I take them seriously.
I'm keeping notes. Accuracy is important so I'll be keeping your doctors'
opinions that the Dexcom is most accurate in mind. This is such a big
decision. It's also reassuring that your experience with the Libra was
positive in case my insurance prefers it.

Patricia also contacted me. Like you, she's used the dexcom for years and
being type 1, she has to have tight control. She's a dietician but very down
to earth. Her advice for what to do when my sugar is too low will be so
helpful. I know this has been discussed on this list but for years my sugar
wasn't low enough for me to pay attention as I should have. Now that I'm
trying much harder I had my first, frightening low. What did I do? I ate
chocolate candy. Now I understand that the fat in chocolate slows down the
body's absorption of the sugar making it take longer to raise the low. And
it did take at least an hour while I perspired, and felt far off kilter and
afraid. Pat said it was all right for me to tell you all that she helped me
out. If I have lows in the future I'll use 4 ounces of fruit juice, a half
of a juicy orange or a big, flat, glucose pill. She said fat free candy can
work but at this time I'd rather not use it unless I could know how much was
just enough. I'm explaining this as a kind of thank you to her and really to
thank all of you here who help people like me with knowledge and kindness.

I've followed this group for years. Just now I need it more than I have for
a very long time. I am finally ready to make bigger, healthier changes.

We have a land line and a not smart flip phone. Along with preparing to
arrange for the Dexcom or Libra, which I believe my insurance will cover or
mostly cover, I'm also researching buying an Apple I Phone. I've been saving
to pay for it all at once. It's quite an investment but my body is asking me
to lower my A1C soonest. The ap where sighted volunteers tell you what your
phone sees will be a life saver. I wouldn't use it overmuch, but there are
times... wow!

Always with love,

Lissi

I have used dexcom for several years. I did use new libre(sp) and did like
it’s features. I was told by 2 endocrinologist that dexcom is more accurate.
I am deaf so could not call you. Is that a text number? Diana cook
