Hello,

It will be dependent on many factors:

Which cell phone carrier you choose, I believe 
AT&T and Verizon wireless seem to be the most expensive but then again, it will be dependent on what kind of plan you choose.

Another factor will be if you want to buy the most current model which is the iPhone 12 series or you want a refurbished model. I would not go back too far or you will be in the situation of getting another phone within at least 2-years.

The iPhone/mobile phone market is a moving target and will see constant updating and upgrading. 

Should you choose an Android phone you may have a learning curve to go through.
