Hi,
Yes, it appears to be that insulin being mandatory is only with Medicare as
I am finding out. Sad though but also it appears to be how hard the treating
Physician fights on your behalf.

My insurance provider is paying for Dexcom for me and I'm not on insulin at
all.

That's interesting because effective January of this year, Medicare will
only pay for testing three times a day for those on insulin.

Medicare's rules for a person with Type 2 diabetes to have a CGM are both
testing four times per day and taking insulin.

Just talking with my neighbor, again, and he said they mandated he be
testing at least 4-times before his insurance, through work, would cover.
Those that restrict I bet are Medicare and Medicaid. However, Medicare does
mandate testing at least 4-times per day, I believe, to receive a CGM which
would be prescribed by the Physician in care.

Rick, it depends on the insurance plan. I am type 2 and would qualify for
neither unless I took Insulin and did enough testing. My husband is type II
and has applied numerous times for a CGM and been denied. All insurance
plans differ.
That is why I say check with your insurance plann provider.

Hi,
Is this requirement for this Free Style Libre only? Reason I ask this is my
neighbor, who is type II diabetic, stopped over to ask me about his newly
prescribed Dexcom he is now wearing to attempt to regulate his glucose to
not have to go onto insulin. I was shocked at the number of tests he was
doing while monitoring and when it got too much for his fingers to handle,
he said he got the prescription and his insurance had it delivered. He is
not a blind individual but simply type II needing major glucose balancing.

The free style libre will but you won't qualify as you are not on Insulin. I
will ask my friend tomorrow which meter she uses, as I know it is somewhat
connected to the iPhone.
For now, try to consistently drink some extra water; even 2 eight-oz.
glasses will help; water does help bring down A1C.
You do a great job, and we are lucky that you manage these lists so well.

Hi:
Most of you will recognize my name. I am the List Owner. I handle all
technical stuff, deal with troublemakers, keep people on topic etc.
Consequently I have been on the list since day one, and read most messages.
Like most people, I don't pay as much attention as I should.
Also, as some of you know, I am a type 2 diabetic. I controlled my A1C
pretty well until the Pandemic. My Doctor wants me to take my blood sugar at
least once a day so we can get a better handle on what foods are causing me
problems.
What meter or meters are accessible. The Prodigy XXX or something else? Is
there anything that will communicate with my iPhone?
Thanks!
David Andrews
