And, I believe the NFB Independence Market still sells the Prodegy Voice for around $75. Call them to verify the price. The problem is getting test strips which the doctor will have to prescribe.

Well Dave, here’s the list.

Firstly, setting the meter is the first issue you will confront. As you set the meter, you will find that it uses a series of beeps and you must count them and hope and a prayer that you just might get what you want set right. Most of the time, you won’t. Because, unfortunately, it shows up on the screen but it will not tell you anything until you get out of setting mode. That’s the first thing. Secondly, if you would like to go back and read anything beyond your text first 10 reading you will need cited assistance because you can only go back 10 readings and the others show up on the screen. But, once again, the meter will be silent after your first 10 obligatory readings.  About the only thing accessible on it is your current reading. But that will only last about 30 seconds as the meter will turn off to save the battery. Now, if you were to be able to read large print, that is where the auto code can be valuable as the screen and the print on the screen is larger for those who need large print. However, I’ve course you know we totally blind folks are out of luck on this one.  I would highly recommend that you ask your doctor to write out the authorization and tell the insurance company that you must have the prodigy voice and the prodigy voice ugly as it is the only accessible
