[Diabetes-Talk] negaderm patches

Yes, I run this pump by myself. But let's be very clear here. I've done a lot of work-arounds to make it happen. When you wear any pump, it has a cannula that goes into your body and when you give the pump a command, it then delivers the insulin. You change the cannula every couple of days. With any pump you have a cartridge that you fill with insulin. When it runs out or times out, you must refill it. I along with my husband made a little gadget that helps me measure out the insulin as I'm filling the cartridge. The pump, no pump talks, has a lot to say on its screens. I use the Seeing AI app on my phone to tell me what screen I'm on and what's happening. Along with many others, I'm doing all I can behind the sceens to help get companies to make pumps fully accessible. But for everyone using a pump, there is and will always be a learning curve. It took me quite awhile to get comfortable getting the pods landing exactly where I wanted them on my arm without wrinkling the tape. So yes, pumps do replace injections and as long as the interface isn't touch screen, like the newest ones are, we can figure most things out.
And now many pumps are including the Dexcom so that the Dexcom sends readings directly to the pump and then the pump responds appropriately. Right there is the reason we need full access to the new technology. Oh how I'm looking forward to a better night's sleep. <grin>
Hope this helps.
Veronica

Wow then you can run the pump by yourself?
When did the pump come out for you.
You still have to do the shots, or does the pump help with insulin?
I am ecited for you.
How do you make sure you don't get to much at a time?
Do share about this pump?
Thanks
Dar
