I haven’t found anything on the Internet about a currently available I could check pump so I don’t know what the nurse at Eli Lily was exactly talking about.

She told me that it had been tested in the Minimed pumps starting with the 530 through the 670 models and the Accu Chek pump which I am not very familiar with. I guess this could affect insurance coverage if they really ask those specific questions.

This is most often the highs that occur after a prolonged low especially if I over treated with food. I probably need to treat this with a higher correction than usual but get a little scared when doing that because I do not want to cause another low. It's probably safer to be a little conservative and have a higher blood sugar a little longer which long term is certainly not going to do any damage. Another thing I like about it is when I'm eating out and the carbohydrate content is a bit uncertain and the food higher in fat I sometimes don't estimate right and the sugar goes a little high but again can bring it down a lot quicker then with NovoLog. Also the formally prolonged highs as a result of a high fat meal can be corrected more quickly. One thing you have to be careful of because this insulin starts working in 12 to 17 minutes you don't want to let anyone or something like a phone call delay your meal once you've taken your insulin. I share this from personal experience!

I don't know how this works but that is one good thing that my endo was telling me about when he put me on it last year in august. Its been exactly 1 year as I just took a look through my records for that fast rapid acting insulin.

For me this means that I can return to running my insulin through my Medicare part B where with my Medicare supplement I get my insulin for zero dollars. This last year I have had to run it through my part D coverage which had high copayments. This ultra rapid acting insulin is still working really great for me. Because it works so rapidly it generally prevents spikes after meals and brings a high blood sugar down in 1/3 to 1/2 the time that it did with nova log.
> >>> My doctor did not tell me about this insulin no doubt because the control of my diabetes has been quite good ever since CGM's but I asked him about it and he gave me a vile to try. Even though the numbers look good on paper to a doctor the roller coaster of blood sugars are bothersome and I find I feel better both physically and mentally when there's less fluctuation. my endocrinologist is very good and totally up-to-date on everything but as patient I feel I need to stay up-to-date on all options out there to advocate for what I feel I need. He is always agreeable to things I want to try.
