Totally agree with you veronica. But they figure   the costs are lower if we just add  that bolt on to the smart phone instead of the actual companies putting those research and development dollars into built-in accessibility out of the box for any product or services now a days. With aging population of more people,  either  being hard of hearing or losing their sight .these  sort of conditions need  to be taken into consideration,  when developing new tech and new devices to meet all needs and all accessibility challenges.

Yes, in the meantime, hope is a great gift and we haven't had that until quite recently. I'll happily play with that toy and hope it doesn't break. <grin.> The other area that really does need attention, as you Dexcom users know, Apple jumps on to Ios 16 and Dexcom says, oh no no! You need to stay on Ios 14 point something. For something as crucial to life as running a pump through an Iphone or Android, we need to get these companies working more closely together so that our pump functionality doesn't get interrupted. I know some of the companies use third party app developers, which makes things a bit tricky. I certainly don't have that answer yet, but stay tuned research! <grin.> But that is one reason why devices themselves should still talk, even if we do have smart phones.
But like I said, for now, I'll go play with that newfound hope.

I am on Medicare and there is a coinsurance for the actual pump itself and the coinsurance is based on the Medicare allowable and not the actual cost of the pump which retails for around $4500. I am paying this coinsurance monthly over a 10 month period and it ranges between 65 and $75 a month. Don’t know why they’re not billing me exactly the same amount every month but it looks like my out-of-pocket cost for the pump will amount to around $750. All of the supplies for my Dexcom and my pump are billed through my Medicare part B insurance  and they have a zero dollars copayment. all of this is no doubt different for employer sponsored insurances and other types of insurance.
