Hi, folks. We still need stories, so I am resending my request. If you have already helped, I apologize for the repetitive email. If not, please send us a story. This is as critical as anything we do.

This message is from Justin Young:

I’m reaching out to you in your leadership capacities as leaders of the Diabetes Action Network of the National Federation of the Blind. I was wondering if the DAN would be willing to assist with advocacy efforts on the Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act? We had a very productive meeting with Senator Susan Collins office last week related to the Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act. One area that is of very great interest to the Senator is diabetes and learning more about accessible medical devices used by blind diabetics.

So we are looking for examples of diabetes related products that are inaccessible for blind users. We think it would be very powerful if we had five or so individuals send a story via email to jyoung at nfb.org describing what if any struggles faced by using an inaccessible device and why incorporating accessibility would be important.

We greatly appreciate your help and I’m happy to discuss this further via phone if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
