Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] OmniPod 5 update

Hello Listers,

I am proud to let you all know that there was a giant update on the OmniPod
5 application for Android/Samsung devices. I have been working with a few
people in the Insulet camp, for roughly 5months or so, to improve
accessibility for blind and visually impaired diabetics. First off, I have
no information on the release of the iPhone application, all I have been
told is hopefully by the end of the 2nd quarter. On to the good news!
1. Talkback users can now access every single setting on the OmniPod!!! This
means that we can now independently adjust, carb correction factors, insulin
correction factors, bolas programs, target glucose, correct above factor.
Every. Single. Setting!
2. We can also now set the activity mode. This means we can exercise without
the added fear of running low. With this setting we can set a workout time
for 1 to 24 hours. I have seen many people use this to avoid night time
lows.

There is still a few things that need to be fixed.
1. The pod info tab is still not read by talkback, but I have been told this
is in the works. As the developers have to redesign the tab for
accessibility reasons.
2. Some images are not read properly on the main screen of the app.
I.e. The trend arrow, Talkback reads the file structure name and not the
trend, such as constant, slowly following, slowly rising, etc.
3. Talkback reads the name of the file for the Mode indicator icon at the
top of the screen, instead of an alt tag.
I.e. automatic mode, limited mode, or manual mode.

Thanks,

Ed Worrell
