Hi Jonathan! Our cases are similar.I was diagnosed 73years ago. At age 5, when I had scarlet fever, sugar was in my urine but not followed up. I am blind in L eye and impaired vision in R eye. Also lost all hearing several years ago due to diabetes. About 2years ago, I switched to Tandem pump! Much improvement in my control! Last A1C-6.9! Amazing for me! I had wonderful parents who weighed all my food. I have been fairly liberal with my diet as an adult but try to count carbs with close accuracy. Best wishes to you! Hope you can get lower A1C! Diana

I'm also a type 1 and currently use the Omnipod insulin pump. It's been a bit of a love-hate relationship, but overall it has made a big difference for me.
