[Diabetes-Talk] Using Camera to capture QRCode

Sorry, I'm still just a bit puzzled. So, when you get to the screen in the
Dexcom app that lets you choose enter manually or scan the code, do you
choose scan, then hold the phone near the code? Or when you get to the
screen to choose manual or scan, do you leave the app and go into the camera
app, where VoiceOver helps with stuff?
Thanks so much.
Veronica

Hi,
I used the camera to slowly scan for the QRCode holding the camera about 5
to 6 inches over the area where I know the code is located. I did not have
to use any sighted help to align the camera.
When it finds the code you should hear the camera shutter sound and a prompt
that the sensor is paired.
Warmup should take around 15 minutes and you will be taken to the main
screen of your app and it will show that it is warming up.

Milton,
I am changing my sensor tomorrow. Did you do the qr code from within the G7
app or did you use the phone camera app to get the qr code. In the G6 app, I
just couldn't seem to find the code in time. Is the qr code located on the
back, if the big button is called on the front?
Everyone, as for the patches, tech support told me to forget them as they
were such a disaster for everyone that Dexcom is recreating new ones.
So far mine have stayed on just fine without the patches.
As for calibration, weird. I had to calibrate mine again this morning. When
I went into history, it said, to look at previous events, go to the Clarity
app. Really? I don't understand why all of the buttons say "dimmed" even
though they're not, really.
Call me unimpressed so far. I had a little chat with my sensor the other day
and explained that it won't get far just by being cute. It needed to
perform. At one point yesterday, I was sitting at a table and the phone was
on the table in front of me. I never moved. For the entire 15 minutes I was
there, I never got a sensor reading. Sorry Dexcom, I think sometimes getting
results is worth more than long battery life. Sheesh!
I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro, running iOS 16.3.

Milton , Thanks for giving your explanation for how your using the camera to
pair G7 sensor very successfully.
Could you please share about your experience with the over lay patch/tatch?
A friend is using paper tape or medical tape on each side of the sensor
edges, without assistance, but that only works for one spot on his arm and
he and we all know the sensors need to be rotated.
Thanks much,
Mary

Hello,
I just inserted a new sensor for the Dexcom G7 using the iPhone camera. I'm
running iOS 16.5 on an iPhone 14 Pro.
I found it pretty snappy once I was able to place the sensor container in
the position where the code can be found on the outside of the applicator. I
aligned the camera about 6 inches from the container and slowly moved the
camera/phone around until I felt a vibration and heard Voiceover tell me
that pairing was complete.
I find that this looks to be better than the G6 app for the iPhone.
Hope others using the G7 will try it and share their experience capturing
the QRCode using their camera whether its with an iPhone or Android device.
