[Diabetes-Talk] FW: Opinions between, the libre models, or the dexcom?

That's interesting Walter I didn't know that it matters where the blood
comes from for blood sugar readings. Thank you for that.

Please forgive me, I am recovering from a stroke and left out the most
important point. Your reading will vary based on where the blood is taken
from. I have my G6 at the top of my stomach, the blood for a glucose monitor
is taken from your finger. There will be a difference in the levels based on
this.

Now it is time for me to lay down. I think that I did a little too much
today, but I will keep trying.

Jude,

Your friend is correct, but the margin can be high or low. It is best to
have a plan 2 ready to go until you feel comfortable with the reading from
the CGM's. I did when I first got mine, now I can tell my levels based on
how I am feeling do to monitoring my levels frequently and when my body has
felt differently. It may be high or lower than I actually am, but close
enough to make management decisions.

Last year a friend who is also type 2 and uses one of those cgm's and
perhaps has tried both told me the systems are routinely 8 to 10% low on
readings as compared to traditional glucometers. He may have got a better
model by now so maybe his accuracy assessment changed for the better with
that new model. Usually paramedics do the finger stick when coming to give
a diabetic another ride to hospitals unless that too has changed in the last
few years.
