[Diabetes-Talk] Meo Infusion Set Question...

I understand your hesitation. But you can at least ask if they have made
changes to all of them without divulging why you don't like them. I'd start
by saying that I liked the old ones better. If you find out that this is the
new design, you'll have to confront this anyway. The fact that they didn't
have all of the sizes tells me that new ones are coming. What a drag! I'd;
probably even ask how to tell if the cannula is primed and let her give the
answer if you were sighted. It might at least give you a clue. Man, deep
breaths.

Hi Veronica,

Oh, I did not think of that which would really suck! The phone rep last week
said they were out of stock on my usual 32 Inch long Meos, but they could
ship either a 23" or a 46" long so I said okay I'll take the 42" or 46" long
one. Sorry I'm not remembering the exact lengths.

I suppose I could fille the tubing, but the issue is I can't connect it to
the canula without the canula first being injected. So then the tip of that
little canula doesn't get filled properly! With what they sent me I'm not
even sure how a sighted person would accomplish this task.

Yes I could call Medtronic but the way they behave stinks once they here a
blind person is calling. I suppose I will give it a try, but I'm not looking
forward to dealing with them and getting my blood pressure raised.

I have a call into my supplier and am waiting to hear if they can re-ship
the 32" long infusion sets and when they call back I'll ask if they are the
same or if the style has been changed on all of them.

I'll keep you posted.

Eileen

Oh no, Eileen. I do not know this new infusion set but I'm very interested
in the answer. One of the things we are stressing in presentations from the
Accessible Insulin Pump Task Force is the importance of all aspects of using
a pump, not just the device itself. As their customer, it would be worth
calling Medtronic customer service and asking if all sizes of the infusion
set are like this new one. My guess would be that they changed them all.
Yikes!
Please keep us posted.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Meo Infusion Set Question...

Hi All,

A silly question, but an important one. I just got a reorder on my Medtronic
pump supplies and I let my supply company send me 40" some odd long infusion
sets instead of the usual 30" some odd long ones that I have used forever.

Anyway, I opened the box this morning and much to my surprise they are quite
different than just a longer tube. The application device is different and
the tube is not automatically connected to it. I played with one set as
practice and see how tubing connects to the applicator and how to trigger
the injection process with these new Meos.

My problem with this is that I have always filled my reservoir, screwed it
onto the infusion set and then gone through a process for filling the tube.
In doing this I'd hold the canula over my hand and once I would feel insulin
dripping out I knew the process was complete. Now, with this new set up, I'm
not sure how to let insulin drip on my hand since the canula is in the
housing of the applicator. Help! Do any of you know how to complete the
filling of the tubing process with this type of Meo infusion set?

Thanks for any assistance.

Eileen
