Patricia,

I question if perhaps the pump trainer just maybe did not know how to go about turning on beeps to indicate the amount of insulin being asked for before the actual delivery. Again I viewed this as a general demo and will consider more seriously come next year.

As for the automated features, If I am remembering correctly I think she said you enter the amount of carbs you are going to eat and the pump has all the ability of calculating the insulin you will need. That is not what or how she is recommending insulin is administered, but she said the pump is the most intelligent pump on the market. We did not go into how to enter carb rates on it today.

Eileen,
Thank you for all this updated information. That is really unfortunate that they removed the confirmation beeps as I would think that would be a good Safetynet for even sighted people. It would seem like to take full advantage of this pump when taking a bolus, it would still be best to go into the menu in the pump where the pump would factor in carbohydrate to be eaten, insulin on board and current blood sugar in terms of adjusting the recommended bolus. Inthe previous pumps, when using what was formally called the audio Bolus, not sure what they call it now, it is necessary for the user to do these calculations themselves. so I am assuming with the 780 that the user is just entering in the amount of insulin that they have chosen to administer.
I am hoping to zoom in to the presentation that Medtronic is doing tomorrow discussing the new 780 pump and see what more I can learn.
