I know of several people successfully using the Omnipod 5 iOS app. I am using it now, but in manual mode because I didn't want to go back to the Dexcom G6. I'm really enjoying the ease of giving a bolus, reading history and editing and setting up basals, etc. The most annoying thing is that when you first start, you have to use their receiver. All you have to do is get signed in and check a box or two, then you're done. Of course, you do the exact same thing on the app, ridiculous! But if you have never used an Omnipod, you'll likely get training anyway. I'm thrilled not to have to carry two things around all of the time. The app has a few squirrely things but it is very usable by us. Others can talk more about using it in automated mode, where I will eventually be, but I'm happy to have this option now. Put a good amount of peanutbutter on both slices of breaad. Put jelly on one of those slices. Flip the other slice and put it on the slice with the jelly and squeeze the edges to close. If there's a good amount of jelly on the sandwich and also more peanutbutter than jelly you're higher up on the protein. Continental breakfasts are a problem for anyone trying for weight loss since my mother who was a registered nurse before all of these extra nursing degrees materialized told me for weight loss you eat like a king at breakfast, you eat like a prince for lunch and you eat like a pauper for supper. If you like sardines they're high in protein and can go well on sour dough bread which is better than yeast risen bread for diabetics. steel cut oats with peanutbutter a little cinnamon and a little raw sugar is another breakfast possibility. More roughage so that may help weight loss. If you don't like peanutbutter in oatmeal not everybody does you could try substituting pecans for the peanutbutter. Nuts by themselves are beneficial though peanuts and cashews may be a problem. Walnuts look like the shape of your brain and that's what those nuts help. Eggs definitely, maybe an egg sandwich or quiche with some vegetables in it seem to help my blood sugars. ----- Jude Q: What borders absolute stupidity? If the dietitian looks at your blood work when you go in for a check up or even the last visit that you had with the doctor, they can make suggestions for helping you with a meal plan that will work for you. I will say also that the suggestings made here are fairly good as many of the folks here on this list have been dealing with diabetes for a long time. Of course trying to cut out overly sugary types of foods. My typical breakfast is more often than not a cup of fruited Greek yogurt that has anywhere from 13-15 grams of carbs. I've tried just plain yogurt but don't like it so I get the fruited that makes it a yummy treat. The Greek yogurt also has more protein than just regular non-Greek yogurt. With that I might also have either a piece of fruit like an orange or cup of berries. Sometimes I might have a slice of cinnamon raisin bread instead of the fruit. You should ask to meet with a diabetic educator versed in diet/nutrition who can give you better guidance based on your blood sugar numbers and insulin amounts. Good luck. Including some protein and fat can blunt the effect of the carbohydrate foods and, make for better after meal blood sugars. Such proteins could include eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, peanut butter, avocados, a few nuts, lean meet. or even poultry or fish if that sounds good to you at breakfast time. Meal examples could include veggie omelette made with one or two eggs or egg substitute, cottage cheese, and fruit plus whole-grain toast, cottage cheese or ricotta cheese spread on toast, Greek yogurt with fruit and toast, peanut butter or almond butter on toast, oatmeal with peanut butter and a bit of fruit, a sandwich, toast spread with avocado and tomato. Multigrain breads generally cause less of a rise and blood sugar after the meal than those made from white flower. Greek yogurt is higher in protein and lower in carbs than regular yogurts and is very nutritious. There is no rule that says you have to have breakfast type food at breakfast time so you could even have a half sandwich and piece of fruit or cup of soup, or leftovers from dinner. there have been many times over the years that I have had to suddenly put together a quick unexpected meal and I usually revert to cheese, crackers, and fruit. I can easily assemble this, throw it in a backpack or purse, and be on my way in an instant. Hope this helps. Depending on my B G level, I mix in a few prunes or a sprinkle of some low cal moosely before microwaving. Soaking the oats in milk over night has a similar affect to cooking them, but no cleaning the pot afterwards. (smile). Best wishes, Paul in Australia. -----Original Message----- From: Diabetes-Talk [mailto:diabetes-talk-bounces at nfbnet.org] On Behalf Of Haas Marianne via Diabetes-Talk Sent: Saturday, 7 December 2024 4:34 AM To: Diabetes-Talk at nfbnet.org Cc: Haas Marianne Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Healthy Breakfasts for Diabetics Good Morning, I am struggling with meals, especially breakfasts.
