Hi Joyce,

I have a question for you about the Medtronic 780G pump. I looked at it
again this week and the trainer will come back in a few weeks to show me
some other things on it.

We were unable to try pairing the pump to an Iphone since she forgot the
sensor/transmitter. The items you list that you are able to view are you
viewing it on your Iphone or is the Apple watch required to get more
information? I need to upgrade my Iphone 10, which I've have put off for a
year now, but want to upgrade before I get a new pump. I need to know if the
Watch is required, or just another bell and whistle. If it is required and
will give more information then I'd get one at the time I get a new phone.
If it doesn't buy me any additional information then I would not bother
getting an Apple Watch.

By the way, they just announced the release of their new sensor the Simplara
Synch which will be housed in its own certa that will be disposed of after
each use.

Additionally, the 780G pump will give audible tones when Easy Bolis is
enabled and if using the pump as I currently use my Revel model. When
wizards are enabled and carb amounts are entered the pump calculates the
insulin dose and delivers its. There is still more I need to see on this
pump to fully understand how a totally blind person will operate it.

I appreciate any further information about devices required to work with the
780G insulin pump.

I am using Medtronic mini med apt.  I am using the glucose monitor that goes
with the pump as that makes the pump work independently on its own.  I also
use the extended reservoir  thing which I change every 7 days.  I have no
trouble filling or applying that independently.  The new   extend is
reservoir  has been out  for the last 6 months and is easier than the  old
ones.

I can access BS thru the aptany time.  I can get how much insulin I have
left, how much time I have for the sensory to work, warning sounds if my BS
is raising or lowering fast, messages thru the ap for messages regarding the
pump, I count carbs and boliss with a series of pushing buttons and
basically don't need vision for that.  

The "smart gard" works continuously making minor insulin adjustments which
at any time I can know thru the ap on my IPhone.

The only thing I use AIRA for if my BS has been low or high for more then 3
or 4 hours, it will knock you out of "Smart guard" and requires you to enter
a BS level, but you really can do this with AIRA as it is a series of button
pushing and you do not need to enter BS amounts as you can accept the BS on
the pump and it will  give you a corrective dosage of insulin and turn the
Smart guard" back on.

I have managed to loose more then 15 pounds in the last 6 months as I have
been of low BS and eating to correct.

There is a learning time for every thing, but as I said I haven't been in
such good control and without of fearing low blood sugars.

My endocrinologist is extremely happy with my numbers and I have learned
some tips and tricks to make this work.

Can you please let me know the apps you are using with your 780G pump? Also,
are you using Dexcom or the Medtronic glucose sensor with the pump and any
app you are using for that if its not Dexcom.

I have been using the Medtronics 780 pump for the last9 months.  I cannot
tell you how wonderful this puymp is!!!  In the last 6 months I have never
been under such good control without any reactions!!  My hemo globin AC1 is
down to 7.2 and in the last 65 years I had been know to having those number
up to over 11.

I also had the problems  of my son coming in and finding me on the floor
passed out due to insulin reactions.  That occurred frequently in the last
10 years since my husband died.
 According to my endocrinologist the last 2 times my average BS is 150 and I
promise you, the brain in this pump avoids low BS as it knows to suspend
delivery and adjusts insulin dosages as needed.  I do not need to boliss
before many meals and it does all of this by itself.

I live by myself and I am so happy with this 780 pump..  I waited 65 years
waiting for the so- Called "artificial pancreas" and believe me, I think
this is it.

I will tell you I had a fantastic trainer from Medtronic's and she made
herself available  via IPhone facetime for helping me.

Like the older pump I had the was it 670 or 680 can't remember, bvut it took
some getting use to before I felt I could use it by myself and I lived by
myself for the last 10 years.

Send me your questions or ask me off list for my phone number and I will
talk to you.  There really wasn't any blind folks when I was put on this
pump last summer.  I will be happy to answer your questions.  You will not
be in the back seat with pump.  You will be traveling easy Living good.

Eileen, I would like to suggest that you expandur exploration. From what I
can tell, it looks as though if you get the 780G, you will essentially be
buying a fancy car for which you can't get a driver's license and all you
can do is sit in the back seat. You really won't be able to do any more than
you can right now. And the Tandem Mobi is out. It's way more usable, giving
you both independence and better control. I would take the time to connect
with a Tandem rep and look at the pump as well as the app that controls it.
It's a great little pump and you can get what you are really after.

Hi All,

I will be looking once again at the Medtronic 780G insulin pump since my
current pump is now out of warrentee. Before I meet with the pump trainer I
want to download any apps that are needed to get the most out of the 780G
pump. The Minimedtronic Mobile was the only app mentioned. Can anyone using
this pump let me know if that is in fact correct for the pump and for Voice
Over users? Also, are there any other apps I should be looking at to work
with this insulin pump?

I'm undecided as to weather or not I want to change to their CGM which I
think is called the Guardian. I'm currently still using the Dexcom G6 which
I'm completely happy with. Any thoughts on the Medtronic CGM?
