[Diabetes-Talk] Pill Identifier App?

Eileen, your pharmacy student is correct. I know once when I was working I
had a medication that was was in a pill bag that got knocked out of my desk
drawer when I went in to get a form for someone. Even with clear coloring
and full sight, the people who checked it were not totally comfortable with
the identification process, though I verified it was correct. There is room
for error in this kind of scanning--too many layers to go through.

The Scriptalk label will confirm that the medication you receive, though a
different size and shape, is the one you are taking. I know because I
experienced this recently. The reason the shapes and sizes change has to do
with where the medications come from--that is, the places the pharmacies get
them from. Coupled with changes in drug manufacturers that pharmacies get
their medications from.

You might have to remind yourself that the size or shape or whether it is a
pill or a capsule has changed, but I don't think an app per se will give you
that information.

Hello. I don't think there is an app for what you want, I think the best you
could do is take a photo with be my AI and then enter those numbers into the
pill identifier on a free app like Drugs.com. I'm telling you this as a
third year Pharmacy student who is going through some of the same struggles.
I'm not sure how reliable that would be, because the numbers and color of
the pill are vitally important, but it is worth a try.
I hope this helps.

Hello Eileen:

I take it you have the Scriptalk reader device. There i also a Scriptalk app
that is free to download and install on your iPhone.

Now, if I misinterpreted your question, perhaps you can help me to better
understand?

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Pill Identifier App?

Hello All,

Does any one have a recommendation for identifying pill medications done
through scanning the image of what a pill looks like? I have script talk
that reads the special labels, but want a confirmation way to tell me what a
pill is when the pharmacy sends me an entirely different shaped pill from
what I had been accustomed to. I'd like an app for my Iphone.

Thanks for any suggestions, preferably a free app.

Eileen
