I also use the 12 hour grace period to give me the freedom to change my sensor when it is most convenient. If the 12 hour grace period is due to end at 2 AM I of course will just stop the sensor earlier in the evening and put in the new one. to stop a sensor session go into the connections tab at the bottom of the app and tap on sensor. Here is where you will find the option to stop sensor and start a new one. I do really like to put in the new sensor, at least a half hour or more before the old one ends as the warm-up. Starts immediately when the sensor is inserted rather than when you parrot. That way when you do parrot and start the new sensor, there is virtually no warm-up time whatsoever. I do find that the G7 can be quite inaccurate during the first few hours after insertion so I always do one or more fingersticks over the first few hours and calibrate the sensor if it is significantly off to calibrate, on the main screen under the glucose to calibrate, on the main screen under the glucose tab in the upper right there is a button that voiceover announces as ICo plus. Tap on this to bring up the menu options that will include entering and event and choose to enter tap on this to bring up the menu options that will include entering and event and choose to enter a blood glucose value selecting use as calibration as the option. Some of these buttons say they are great out, but they are functional. After a calibration, it takes the app about five minutes to show the corrected reading, and if it does not correct enough, Dexcom advises repeating the process every 15 minutes or so for a couple of more tries.
Hope this helps.
