On the iPhone Dexcom app there is the history tab where you can add events, including long and short, acting insulin taken, food eaten, other medication’s taken, etc. However, I do not think that the Dexcom app does any kind of calculations or recommendations but just allows you to enter these events which would then show up on more detailed reports that are of course, a bit difficult for blind folks to access and analyze, but Health professionals often can use this information to make recommendations at medical appointments. Most insulin pumps nowadays do have built in calculators that will recommend a bolus dose for a meal or a correction based on blood glucose level, carbohydrates eaten, insulin sensitivity factor, etc. in order for the algorithm to compute insulin needed. The user has to enter into the system various aspects of their insulin requirements as everyone is different.
