Gary,
Since you do like the tubeless pumps, don’t know if you’re aware that Tandem will be coming. out within probably the next year a separate cartridge that will convert the current Mobi into a patch pump. People will actually be able to have the two different cartridges on hand if they want so they can even go back-and-forth from tubeless to tubed. They have a three month trial period for the pump where if a person is not satisfied with how it works for them, they can return it. This pump has a different algorithm and some features than the Omnipod so who knows it might be a better fit for you.
What kind of insulin do you currently use? I was able to get my time and range significantly better a number of years ago when I switched to Lyumjev insulin. Although it is termed an ultra rapid acting insulin designed to help reduce after meal spikes and bring down high blood sugars more quickly. I still wouldn’t say it was ultra rapid acting, but faster acting than Humalog and NovoLog for some people my doctor did not tell me about the insulin, but I just read about it somewhere and asked him if I could give it a try. He was very agreeable and it turned out well for me. I do sometimes get some stinging as the insulin goes in and some irritation at the infusion site, but have been willing to put up with this for the most part to achieve a better result. Not everyone notices any kind of stinging or irritation.
Patricia.

You probably ran across in your research that although it is much simpler and you don’t have to enter a lot of information that the resulting time and range is generally considerably lower than what people are getting from other pumps so for people who are satisfied with a time in range of around 70% this pump might be a great option, but for people who want a higher level of control they could be very frustrated.

When added up all the cost it was not going to be worth it in the long run. My endo was trying to make life a bit easier with insulin pumps and doing all the hard core heavy calculation lifting . the advantage of the I let pump , was that you could enter in your weight , the amount of the meal whether it was breakfast, lunch , dinner , or snack, then give it the amount or size and it would doo all the heavy lifting of carb ratios carb counting and adding or subtraction of insulin , and all that messy stuff, that I sometime get and don’t get right . that was the only reason, we decided to take a look at the I let pump from beta bionics.

>> Gary, I have not seen the smart phone app because when it first came out, everything was buried deep in menus in the pump and definitely not accessible. I know some people who used it but didn't stay with it because of how it behaved. Here's an example. She kind of figured out how to enter the basics and her meals were pretty much all the same size. Then on a week end, she attended a kids' birthday party. So, as you can guess, what she ate was really different. All during the next week, this pump was blousing based on how she ate over the week end. She was crashing so badly all week that she abandoned the pump. I've heard that some people have better luck if they don't tell it anything about meals.
>> I haven't known of a blind person using this pump. Did your endo give any specific reason for wanting you to use this pump? I'd be curious.
