How do you keep from smearing the blood I used to test with the prodigy voice and I could never get the same reading twice.

Hi Eileen,
It is from Foracare.com and I use the non-smart meter that talks. The strips are always on sale and I pay $9.99 per 50. I tend to buy four at a time for free shipping. When I started using the freestyle regularly (at one point it was $26 so I only used it one sensor a month), I would go three days between sensors. Now, I am so spoiled by always knowing what my numbers are that I only go one day between sensors.
While I do have some sight inside my home where I control the lighting, often in restaurants I have no vision or no usable vision.

Since I use test strips so infrequently these days that I find it cheaper to justbuy outright without insurance for a new meter and canister of strips that now last forever.

> The meter that I used in the past was the solo v2. It is no longer made and when it began to get hard to find test strips, I went looking for a new meter and found Foracare.com. They originally only had one meter that talked but now they are carrying several and also have other health devices that talk. Their app "wasn't" usable but my current meter is not one that uses bluetooth so I have not used their app in a few years now.
> I use diabetes:M on android to track and print reports. They might accept some insurance, but I have found their prices are cheaper than co-pays. My meter was $20 and the test strips are $10 per 50. They will list higher prices on the website but always have them on sale.

>> I use the Contour as a backup for my Dexcom G7. The only information I use on the app is just the current blood glucose value when doing a fingerstick. This is accessible as well as the history of previous blood glucose values done. The vvisual graph, of course is not accessible, but I don’t need that. The only two times I needed assistance with this device was when I first bought it and needed to pair it with my phone and the second time was when I had to buy a new phone and again had to pair with a new phone. I think it might be possible to pair it without sighted Assistance by calling technical support and having them walk you through the process. You do press the button and watch for some sort of a light to pair, but I think perhaps by following their guidance of just how many seconds to hold down the button that you could get it to work without sighted assistance. I did find the technical support department to be helpful with any questions I have had.
