I had my pharmacist put a tactile notch in the plunger of the syringe, so I could draw up the correct amount of medicine for my kids. I'm not sure if this could work doing the opposite to squirt out the unused amount. Or, you could ask your pharmacist to do this for him for the entire prescription, since it won't be something that needs to be done forever.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Accessible syringes for my husband.

Hello Everyone,

My husband is coming home from the hospital, and my question concerns not diabetes so much as accessible syringes, so thought this would be a good place to go.

He is on Warfarin blood thinner. Because of a procedure they had to do, they needed to give him a clotting agent, which has not yet cleared his body, bringing his INR down low. The INR is gradually rising to the correct level as the clotting agent clears out.

He could come home any time, but also needs a Lovenox shot along with the Warfarin.

That shot comes in a preloaded syringe, and most people squirt out the amount not needed to get to their prescribed dose.

If anyone is facing a similar dosage situation, how are you managing to handle it? He would need the shot twice daily.

Thanks so much for any help you can give.
