Kim:

I am so very sorry for your loss. Mike and I were good friends and I always enjoyed working and talking with him. He was an amazing advocate and mentor to so many. I’m sending all my love and prayers your way.

Hello friends: An update to share that my beloved husband passed away early this morning as I sat by his bedside. This is all to much for me right at this moment but what I want you all to know is he was passionate about serving Blind Iowans and the Federation. He believed in collaboration and getting the work done to improve the lives of blind Iowans of all ages and he now looks to to carry that Baton. Finally, funeral arrangements must be made yet so I will get that info to you when all is finalized. I will keep everyone posted. Kim

Good evening: I am writing everyone from Michael’s hospital bedside this morning with very little sleep but determined to remain awake and by his side. About 4 pm yesterday, there was some sort of health event that occurred to Michael, we don’t know what ... maybe it could have been a heart attack possibly, but his heath decline rather unexpectedly and suddenly. He is now under the care of Hospice while in the hospital for the moment and will remain sedated as long as needed to keep him comfortable. None of us are GOD and no one has a crystal ball to know what tomorrow will bring but should he make it through the night and not wake up in the morning, so the next step is to transfer him to a Hospice home probably tomorrow. I wish to thank all for the thoughts and prayers. Please also know Michael wishes are nothing more than the Federation’s work to continue forward so keep the focus on the good work at hand! Michael fell and broke his hip, thus the surgery. He became more oxygen deprived in surgery. It has caused him some additional issues. I hadn’t told you all because Kim didn’t say I could. They were hoping to move him to a care facility today for rehabilitation. I haven’t heard more than that about him.

Hello all.

This is just a quick update.

I am writing to you from the gold coast of Southern California!

As I write this I am enjoying sitting here in my sisters porch next to a very sleepy puppy.

I hope that you are all doing well.

I do not have an update on Michaels health. Never the less, please continue to pray for him and his family.

At our last chapter meeting we talked about committees.

As a refresher here are the current options.

Fund raising committee.

Ambassadors committee.

Host committee.

Committee to determine what welcome package we can put together for new orientation center students.

If you are interested in helping with any of these please let me know at your earliest convenience.

Heads up the LEAP program is just around the corner.

So I think we need to start planning an event to reach out to the students attending LEAP this summer. Hopefully we can have an in person event.

In either case I think that it would be great to plan something that allows us to reach out to these students.

Senior week is also around the corner and I think that there is an opportunity to plan something for that group as well.

Reminder that registration is open for the 2021 Virtual convention.
