You may have heard about “Reimagine DART” as an initiative we are undertaking. We are excited to officially introduce this effort to you! 
 
Reimagine DART <http://www.ridedart.com/reimagine> is a collaborative effort to transform public transit in Greater Des Moines. This initiative will chart a fresh course for how DART can strengthen and connect communities within a growing region.  We want to keep you informed of our progress throughout the next 18 months and invite you to be a part of the process. Why Reimagine DART 
 
A thriving community begins with the right connections. With nearly 9 out of every 10 trips we provide resulting in people earning or spending money, DART not only connects those who ride to vital destinations, but we also connect communities to economic growth and opportunity. 
 
Formed in 2006 as a regional transportation solution, DART has adapted to changing travel patterns, regional expansion and new technology. As funding for public transit becomes tighter, now is the right time – and a unique opportunity – to take a fresh look at Greater Des Moines’ priorities for public transit and how DART’s services can connect communities for the future. 
 
What We Will Accomplish 
 
Through this process, we aim to achieve:  
Agreement among the communities we serve on what outcomes they want DART to achieve. 
A redesign of our network, identifying the types of services DART should deliver and how to deliver them based on the DART Commission’s goals and funding.  
Community involvement to understand what you value and want from a public transit system to inform decisions made by elected leaders. 
 
This effort has the potential to transform our public transit system. We believe the result will allow us to continue to serve our current riders, while also providing new opportunities to better connect residents to places across our member communities.
