Good morning,
It looks like the ridership option was most popular. Note that DART moved the vote back to June 3rd, so the next phase for public input will now be September.

Greetings!

Thank you again for providing feedback on the type of bus network you prefer as we go through Reimagine DART. Below is a summary of key findings from our April public input period.

We also want to make you aware that we will no longer hold our May 19 DART Commission meeting. The DART Commission is now scheduled to vote on the budget and priorities for designing a draft bus network at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 3 at noon.

Earlier this week, we decided to delay this vote due to uncertainty surrounding a property tax bill introduced by the Iowa Legislature that would impact funding for DART. The Legislature adjourned Thursday morning and did not adopt the property tax bill.

Following the DART Commision’s vote on June 3, DART staff will work with our consultants to design a draft network. We will seek your feedback on that draft network in September.

Thank you for working with us to Reimagine DART together. We look forward to sharing another update with you following the June 3 Commission meeting.

Public Input Findings

Based on nearly 1,400 survey responses, here is a summary of what central Iowa riders and residents said they prefer as we design a new transit network:

About half prefer the Ridership Concept: 49% of all respondents prefer the Ridership Concept, 24% prefer a hybrid of both ridership and coverage and 26% prefer the Coverage Concept.

A slight majority (57%) prefer shorter waits for a bus, even if it means a longer walk to a bus stop.

The vast majority (72%) prefer spacing out bus stops for faster, more reliable bus service, even if that means longer walks to a bus stop.

You can view a report with more analysis of the responses we received here:
