Good evening everyone, I just thought you all might find this helpful. I got this information from the presidents email. Message Content I want to share with you a workaround I have discovered for the inaccessible kiosks at Walmart. Inside the Walmart app, is the option ‘Scan and Go.’ This feature is found in the services icon which is found just to the left of the account icon on the dashboard. It is fully accessible with VoiceOver. I have not tested it with TalkBack. You scan your items as you go through the store. Your phone will announce the item and the price. You can bag them as you go if you wish. It gives you a running total and allows you to remove items. When you are finished, you go to one of those inaccessible kiosks and point your phone at the screen to read the QR code which allows you to pay from your accessible smartphone without any help from a sighted person. I don’t recall if you can get cash, probably not. But this is the only drawback I see to this approach. You should set up your payment method in the app before arriving at the store.

Becky Young, President
National Federation of the Blind of Iowa, Des Moines
Phone: 515-553-9270
Email

Website
Live the life you want.

The National Federation of the Blind of Iowa is a community of members and friends who believe in the hopes and dreams of the nation’s blind.
